Less than 2 weeks to go until Russian Grand Prix. Sochi Autodrom talks about preparations​

There is less than two weeks to go until the Russian Formula 1 round. This year, Sochi Autodrom will host the Grand Prix of the World Championship for the seventh time in its history - the weekend will take place from 24 to 27 September. Now with the preparation entering its final stage we have decided to share with the fans up-to-date information about where the process of the organisation of the Russian Grand Prix is now.​

Condition of track and complex of garages

All Sochi Autodrom garages are ready to receive the teams. The surface of the track is being cleaned these days and anti-slip paint is being applied to it. The preparation of special track side safety barriers is in the final stage.

Formula 1 freight delivery

The Formula 1 sea freight began to arrive at the port of Novorossiysk on 1 September. After customs clearance, they will be transported by road to the venue for the 2020 Russian Grand Prix. The first of it will soon arrive at Sochi Autodrom. In addition to the sea route, the Formula 1 freight will arrive in Sochi by air and road.

Infrastructure preparation

We have completed preparations in all temporary grandstands, building and structure repairs, prepared the premises of the Formula 1 race directorate, drainage systems, water supply, ventilation and air conditioning, fire protection systems, a volunteer headquarters, kitchen equipment of the circuit and much more. The construction of temporary storage facilities for team freight, warehouses, tents for marshals has also been completed.

The preparation of temporary infrastructure facilities at the circuit and in the Olympic Park is almost complete. Façades, buildings and structures, guest areas are being cleaned. A stage for concerts has been built in the Central Square of the Olympic Park since 10 September.

Safety

The issue of the fan safety in 2020 is of particular importance due to the coronavirus pandemic. The conditions for the holding of the race this year have been developed in accordance with all the requirements and recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor. 7 security checkpoints will be built into the security perimeter for the Formula 1 spectators and participants. During the Grand Prix, healthcare professionals will work at each of these points.

The FORMULA 1 VTB RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX 2020 will be held from 24 to 27 September. A round of the Formula 2 youth championship will be held as part of the Grand Prix. A packed entertainment programme is planned for the spectators, including concerts by Zemfira, Therr Maitz and Tesla Boy, performances by famous DJs, as well as the festival of thrill and engines.
