Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix 2020 date announced
The Sochi Autodrom round will take place on 27 September. It will be the 17th out of 22 rounds of the 2020 world championship calendar.
Formula 1 has released a provisional calendar of the 71st world championship. According to it, the 7th Russian Grand Prix will be held on 27 September 2020. A week before the Russian round, there will be a race in Singapore, then, two weeks later, another one in Japan.
The 2020 season will be the most eventful in the history of Formula 1 – the calendar contains 22 rounds. The world championship begins with the Australian Grand Prix on 15 March and finishes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 29 November.
On 5 April, Hanoi will host the first ever Vietnam Grand Prix – this country will be the 34th country hosting F1 races. The Dutch Grand Prix, which was last held in 1985, is due to be revived. The race at the Zandvoort track will open the European part of the season on 3 May. Also, the Mexican Grand Prix has been renamed to the Mexico City Grand Prix and there will be no German Grand Prix.
On 4 October, the provisional calendar will be submitted to the FIA World Motor Sport Council for approval.
The 2019 Russian Grand Prix will be held from 26 to 29 September. In addition to Formula 1, the Formula 2 and Formula 3 youth championships rounds will take place. The large-scale entertainment programme of the event will include concerts of Mumiy Troll and Leningrad, an air show of the Russian Knights, the Festival of Thrill and Engines, autograph session with F1, F2, F4 drivers and much more.
