Mitjet Series Russia to become a 2017 FORMULA 1 VTB RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX support race
Mitjet Series Russia will become a support race for the 2017 FORMULA 1 VTB RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX, which will take place in Sochi from 27 to 30 April
The 2017 VTB FORMULA 1 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX spectators will see the second round of the Mitjet 2L Arctic Cup.
The Mitjet Series' popularity is rapidly gathering momentum in Europe and around the world. Recently, the racing series has proven itself in the national championships of France, Italy, the USA, Denmark and this year in Germany as well. The first race of the Mitjet Series Russia took place at Sochi Autodrom in 2015.
Last year, 17 Mitjet sports prototypes took part in the support race for the third FORMULA 1 RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX at Sochi Autodrom and there were some spectacular fight for the places.
Mitjet 2L is a popular racing series, founded by French driver Jean-Philippe Dairo in 2012. The Mitjet cars are 750-kilos rear-wheel drive sports prototypes with two-litre 230 hp engines.
The distinguishing features of the series are its affordability and unified race cars that promote the drivers' talents. National championships and traditional competitions are held in France, Italy, Denmark, the USA, Russia and, for the first time, Germany.
In 2015, Mitjet 2L cars were brought to Russia by Arctic Energy, whose headquarters are located at Sochi Autodrom, which makes it possible to hold practice sessions and races at the Formula 1 circuit all year round.
